Calculation method and example

Recover base equipment defense by dividing panel equipment defense by (1 + equipment defense% / 100). For effective defense X, first subtract the enemy’s flat ignore defense, with a minimum of 0; then multiply by (1 + defense% / 100) and (1 − enemy ignore defense% / 100). Defense reduction = X / (X + 495) × 100%.

Physical example: base defense 5,155, equipment defense 60%, enemy flat ignore 4,000 and enemy ignore 0% give effective defense 1,848 and defense reduction 78.87%. Change enemy ignore values to compare opponents.

This player-tested formula is not officially published. The result estimates only the equipment-defense layer, without combining other damage reductions. Use the corresponding magic defense and ignore values in magic mode.

Tutorial and result interpretation

Compare how much equipment-defense reduction remains against different opponents. Distinguish panel equipment defense, its percentage bonus and recovered base defense to avoid counting the same bonus twice.

Follow these steps

Read equipment physical or magic defense in character details and the matching equipment-defense percentage in special stats. Keep both values in the same damage type.
Recover base equipment defense first, then enter the opponent’s flat and percentage ignore defense. If their values are unknown, compare assumptions while keeping everything else unchanged.
Change one input at a time and read effective defense and reduction. Check the physical or magic mode and all inputs before sharing a snapshot.

Worked example

With base defense 5,155, defense bonus 60% and percentage ignore 0%, flat ignore 4,000 leaves effective defense 1,848 and about 78.87% reduction. Changing only flat ignore to 5,000 leaves 248 and about 33.38%. This is an example of the existing formula, not a new combat measurement.

Important limits

The constant 495 belongs to the player-derived formula used here, not an officially published formula. Only the equipment-defense layer is estimated; other reductions, skills, elements and combat conditions are not combined into final damage.
